"Illustrate a lyric from a song of your choice." Was the project. After much thought, and about a week of pondering I finally decided on the lyrics:
"Wake up your dead!" from Clever Sleazoid by Dir en grey
I decided on this because i had been listening to the single one night and had turned my stereo off will the volume all the way up. I accidentally left my alarm clock on, and at about 6a.m. I woke up to "WAKE UP YOUR DEAD" at 100% volume. I was terrified, and so after watching the Video for this song almost 100 times i began to collect the stock. I wanted to convey a sense of nightmare, because you can't wake up if your dead. I incorporated things from the video (the horses head, and the cockroach), so that a person who has seen the video or heard the song would recognize the elements and put together the name of the song and the lyrics. I believe I was successful, i have asked several Dir en grey fans what song/lyrics they think I illustrated and all said that is was Clever Sleazoid and that it looked like something they would associate with that song.
The original file is massive! (disabled DLing for the time being) It's was only 11 layers but it was over 1,000 DPI. The photoshop file alone is over 1gb. The PNG filed I uploaded here was something close to 55mb (that was hell trying to upload over dial up). A Giant print is being made of this for display (only). We are trying to scale is to something close to 2x3 foot (so my teacher says), but anything larger then 9x18 is acceptable. The original size is 6x9in but with the large amount of DPI scaling is not to big of an issue. The problem is getting the marketing department to let me use the plotter printer.
Any way The Full view is not full size but it is at a size in which i think it can be viewed without making your brains explode and bleed all over.
I was thinking of adding about .5in - 1in of black bordering. I dunno though. What do you think?
I love Dir en Grey!! Awesome! Indeed very awesome! Great job and I hope you get a good grade out of this project!
